Ministry Of Education To Spend One Billion EGP For Text Book Printing
Egypt’s Ministry of education is set to spend one billion EGP for production of school books for the upcoming academic year.
Major General Mohammad Abdo Hussein head of publishing office of the ministry said Center for Developing Curricula and Educational Materials is working to change and adopt contents of all pre university textbooks prior to publishing. According to Abdo the printing cost of a 100 page mono colour book is around 2.20 EGP while for colour book the price rises to 2.70 EGP.
Abdo also added that 91 printing houses have been commissioned to look after printing operations. Meanwhile two printers were dropped from the list for different reasons including affiliation to Muslim Brotherhood and passing away of one of the owners.
So far 30% of all required textbooks have been printed. Once printing operation for all textbooks is completed they will be distributed among schools and other educational institutions.
