Egypt’s Printing, Packaging & Paper Exports Jumps 37%
The Export Council of Printing, Packaging, Paper, Literary and Artistic Works in Egypt announced that the sector’s exports jumped 37% in the first half of 2022 to record $614.6 million as against $449.4 million in the year-earlier period.
The export council’s monthly report issued last Saturday revealed that the packaging sector’s exports rose by 30% to $363.9 million, compared to $280.1 million.
Total paper exports also increased by 30% during the same period, to record $232.5 million, compared to $142.3 million in the same period last year.
Exports of corrugated cartons were at $23.6 million during the first six months of 2022, compared to $18.09 million in the year-earlier period, an increase of 30%.
In comparison, non-corrugated carton exports jumped 208% to $16.3 million as compared to $5.3 million.
Paper bag exports has also grown by a robust 158% to record $3.1 million as against $1.2 million, while textile bags exports increased by 18% to $26.9 million as compared to $22.8 million.
Exports of the flexible packaging sector amounted to $223.8 million during the first half of 2022, an increase of 31%, compared to $171.3 million in the year-earlier period, while plastics exports were up by 12% to $71.5 million as against $63.7 million.
The council also said that exports of printed books increased by 14% to $5.6 million, compared to $4.9 million.
