Canon launches Océ Arizona 2200 Series for best in class quality and productivity in flatbed printing

LONDON, 31st May 2016 – Canon Europe, world leader in imaging solutions, today announces the global launch of the Océ Arizona 2200 Series of UV flatbed printers – an enhanced solution for Print Service providers, fine-art print producers and photo labs.  Designed to address the demand for increased capacity and versatility without compromising on print quality, the Océ Arizona 2260 and 2280 enable print service providers (PSPs) to capitalise on new market opportunities and explore a wider range of applications.

Increasing earning potential

Building on the success of the market-leading Arizona 600 series, the Océ Arizona 2200 series allows PSPs to meet shorter customer deadlines and improve production capacity by delivering sellable prints at speeds of up to 63.4 m2/hr.

Print service providers can expand beyond sign and display applications into the photographic and fine-art market with the new six colour Océ VariaDot™ grayscale printing technology. User-friendly pneumatic registration pins also enable quick, repeatable and easy loading for maximum efficiency. The standard included Automated Printhead Maintenance System provides completely hands-free printhead cleaning in less than 25 seconds per colour, ensuring consistent nozzle performance print after print.

The new ONYX Thrive workflow solution coupled with the Océ ProCut digital cutting system, further optimises productivity by supplying a seamless workflow right across all display graphics applications. PSPs are able to make the best use of substrates, minimise waste and benefit from additional cost savings via the automated finishing software, which pre-empts errors and eliminates costly reprints.

True versatility and quality at the core

The true flatbed architecture offers superb edge-to-edge and double sided printing on almost any rigid media, including unconventionally shaped, heavy, smooth or pre-cut media. With the addition of Light Cyan and Light Magenta, the Arizona 2200-Series delivers smoother colour transitions, highlights and quarter tones, enabling expansion into the photo and fine art markets. Meanwhile, patented Active Pixel Placement Compensation technology achieves excellent uniform print geometry across both the whole flatbed table and Roll Media option.

The in-house capabilities and services of PSPs are further expanded by a new UV curing system with improved efficiency and heat output reduced by 15%. This facilitates an even wider range of heat-sensitive flexible media, including thin film and self-adhesive PVCs. The Arizona 2200 series also supports scalability for growing businesses, as users are able to add additional ink channels at any time to further improve print quality and extend the application versatility by adding white ink and varnish.  Four, six or eight colour channels allow users to select the best colour configuration for their business, making the devices suitable for any functional or photographic application in high quality print modes.

The new range of devices directly increase profitability by enabling unattended overnight printing on flexible media up to 2.2 meters wide. Using the Roll Media option, PSPs can print continuously on rigid media during the day and roll media at night, maximising return on investment and minimising the lead time of critical orders.

Mathew Faulkner, European Marketing Manager for Wide Format Group, Canon Europe, commented: “Right now, the opportunity for mid-volume PSPs to grow and diversify is enormous.  But in order to do this successfully, they must offer speed and efficiency alongside print quality, as the demands of consumers are constantly evolving. The Océ Arizona 2200 series provides a flexible and scalable solution with decreased delivery times and high-quality printing and finishing on a diverse range of materials. We believe this will empower PSPs to maximise their offering and work to deliver a range of superb products, quickly and cost-effectively. By keeping quality, usability and versatility at the heart of this development process, we are demonstrating our commitment to helping our customers grow new revenue streams.”
