Saudi Developer Dar Al Arkan to Build 3D Print Houses

Top Saudi real estate developer Dar Al Arkan announced the company will be building 3D printed houses in partnership with Denmark’s COBOD.  The company will use 3D Construction Printing (3DCP) technology for its projects in the Kingdom.

The company said in a press statement that it would complete its first house with 3DCP technology in the mixed-use Shams Ar Riyadh project by the fourth quarter of 2021.

According to Dar Dar Al Arkan COBOD’s technology cuts construction time by more than half compared to traditional construction, requires less manpower since it takes only three workers to build one house, use less concrete and ultimately, ensures lower costs and affordability for customers.

“A combination of reduced waste of construction materials, less need for repair or rework and low on-site LTI incidents will enable highly cost-efficient project management than traditional construction,” the statement said.

Ziad El Chaar, Vice Chairman, Dar Al Arkan Properties, said the introduction of 3D construction printing would enable the company to focus on greater flexibility of design, strengthen productivity and achieve higher cost efficiency.
