The 10th WAN-IFRA Middle East Conference, the annual meeting place for news publishers in the region, originally planned for 18-19 February, has been rescheduled to 15 and 16 April 2015 due to circumstances beyond our control.
The future of publishing is taking place right now, and this conference is expected to draw some 350 publishers, CEOs, managing directors, chief editors and other senior media executives to Dubai to take stock of their current operations and look ahead to see how their organisations might look and work in 2020.
In addition to speakers from Jordan, Dubai and Saudi Arabia, the event will feature presentations and case studies from Finland, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, India, Vietnam, the United Kingdom and the USA.

Her Royal Highness Princess Rym Ali, who founded in 2007 the Jordan Media Institute (JMI), a non-profit institution whose aim is to establish an Arab center of excellence for journalism education with a Master’s program at its core and training-modules in parallel.
Tomas Brunegård, President of WAN-IFRA, and previously, CEO of Sweden’s Stampen Group, a position he had held since 2004. Before that he was CEO of Göteborgs-Posten from 1996-2004.
Arunabh Das Sharma, President of the Times Group in India and an expert in handling business strategies across a range of markets and platforms. He has worked in both mature and emerging market environments in India, China and the US and will share his experiences at the Congress.
Kerry J. Northrup, a career journalist and international media executive who specializes in prototyping the future of journalism. Northrup created the original US$2.5 million Newsplex model newsroom for demonstration and training in convergent newshandling technologies and techniques.
Le Quoc Minh, Editor-in-Chief of VietnamPlus which delivers news in five languages. Minh is the person behind Vietnam News Agency’s new media technologies development including a unique news application, which runs on 500 different mobile phones.
Sithikorn Wongwudthianun, Photo Producer and In-House UAV pilot for The Bangkok Post, who captured breathtaking images of Bangkok during political protests in 2013 using a drone and continues to explore how these new devices can enhance news coverage.Jonathan Halls, Principal of Jonathan Halls & Associates and an adjunct professor at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Halls delivered the WAN-IFRA Newsplex training for journalists at the UK’s Daily Telegraph when it moved to its converged newsroom in 2006.
Samir A. Husni, Ph.D., founder and director of the Magazine Innovation Center at the University of Mississippi’s Meek School of Journalism and New Media. He is also Professor and Hederman Lecturer at the School of Journalism. As Mr. Magazine™ he engages in consulting and research for the magazine and publishing industry.
