Kuwait Government Rushes to Distribute Textbooks

The urgent need to distribute textbooks to public education schools in various regions and schooling stages was announced by the Assistant Undersecretary for Financial Affairs at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Education, Yousef Al-Najjar. Mr. Al-Najjar has announced that the financial sector, represented by the Department of Supplies and Stores, has started distributing textbooks to public education schools.

“Books were received from various printing presses by the beginning of this month and their distribution to all educational institutes is underway till the end of August,” says Mr. Al-Najjar.

In a related context, the Director of the Supply and Stores Department at the Ministry of Education, Matrouk Al-Mutairi, revealed an integrated plan to meet and provide the needs of government schools for textbooks for the year 2021-2022.

“The Department of Supply and Stores introduced the practices of printing and distributing textbooks, which numbered 60 practices, including textbooks for all educational levels through making the necessary financial links, and addressing the Ministry of Information to disseminate these practices, and receive the bids,” says Mr. Al-Mutairi of the advanced companies and its dissolution through the Procurement Committee.

The Department of Supply and Stores, since last week, has been keen to distribute the available books, which were entered into the stores, in batches, until the completion of the distribution of all these books to schools, according to the budget of each school.

“Textbooks for the next school year 2021/2022 have been distributed in the Hawalli and Jahra educational regions, according to what is available in the warehouses,” says Abdulaziz Al-Mutairi, Head of Stores Department in the Supply Department. He also indicated that the administration is awaiting the supply of the rest of the books from the printing presses according to the distribution mechanism approved by the Ministry of Education, to ensure the availability of textbooks before the start of the new year in all schools.
