Future-proof Packaging to Turn Heads at FRUIT LOGISTICA

With over 2,500 exhibitors, groundbreaking innovations, and countless networking opportunities, the event sets the stage for industry growth and collaboration.

FRUIT LOGISTICA, the world’s leading trade show for the fresh produce business, remains the number one place for industry professionals from all over the globe to maintain and expand their professional network, discuss new trends and ideas, and grow their business.

The event, which returns to Berlin on 5-7 February 2025, is expected to bring more visitors and exhibitors combined through its doors than any other produce industry exhibition. Over 2,500 exhibitors from 86 countries are due to take part, making it the world’s largest and most international gathering of companies in the fruit and vegetable sector.

“Our guiding theme is Fruitful Connections, and that’s because Berlin is the place to make contacts, share new plans, and build partnerships,” says FRUIT LOGISTICA Director Kai Mangelberger. “We are excited to offer our exhibitors and visitors countless opportunities to strengthen existing relationships and forge new ones, all aimed at driving sustainable growth.”

Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, and France remain its top five countries in terms of exhibitor numbers, but the number of companies taking part from Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, and Africa is also set to grow.

More exhibitors are expected from the UK, India, China, Turkey, and Vietnam – the latter has more than doubled its presence – while exhibitors from countries including Sri Lanka, Singapore, the Philippines, Mauritius, and Iran make a long-awaited return.

Focus on Innovation

FRUIT LOGISTICA continues to reflect the dynamism of the fresh produce industry. New for 2025 is an expanded, three-day Startup World, which shines a light on groundbreaking solutions and emerging technologies that can bring new success to the fresh produce industry. And there’s plenty more to be found at the event thanks to online series FRUIT LOGISTICA Spotlights, a handy guide to some of the show’s leading innovations.

Recyclable Packaging

Recyclable packaging solutions are also a key topic at FRUIT LOGISTICA. New products such as LifeBag, the latest innovation from waste bag specialists SMP is made from 100% biodegradable, compostable, and food-safe plastic. It can extend the shelf life of fruits and vegetables by up to four times, thereby reducing food waste. The packaging ensures freshness, which in turn contributes to a healthy diet.

Another innovative product is Smileys BK-70+ film from Carton Pack – a European leader in fresh produce and food packaging – which can be used to safely and sustainably seal fruit, whether blueberries, cherry tomatoes, or dried fruit. The film is suitable for all heat sealers and is supplied smooth or perforated in standard rolls made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyethylene (PE), or polypropylene (PP). The size and shape of the fully-printable film can be flexibly adapted to suit the desired packaging. Opening is easy, and resealing can take place up to 20 times, replacing the lid and thereby reducing plastic by 50%.

Tech Stage Presents Future-proof Packaging Solutions

Tech Stage is where exhibitors will deliver 20-minute pitches presenting their machinery and technology innovations to trade fair visitors. Here too, sustainability and digitalisation dominate the agenda.

Austria’s DS Smith, which specialises in recycling and paper production systems will be showing why even after 25 years, corrugated cardboard is still an up-to-date packaging material. Several other companies are joining in with their portfolio of innovative packaging solutions. Multivac from Germany is another company presenting its wide range of integrated packaging lines.

Fruitful Friday

This year, FRUIT LOGISTICA’s final day culminates in a celebration of the fresh produce industry. After the show’s first-ever Mascot Race, there will be champagne and music to enhance the day’s prestigious FRUIT LOGISTICA Innovation Awards ceremony. And with exhibitors encouraged to leave their stands and explore some of the exhibition’s 25 halls, the entire day is dedicated to the development of deeper discussions and expanded horizons.
