‘Eid in Dubai’ Escalates Demand For Outdoor Advertising
Outdoor advertising took a hike in Dubai with the arrival of the festive season. As Eid celebrations took its round in the city, the growing demand for outdoor advertisement reflected the recovery of tourism and retail growth, which has so far been positive compared to the second quarter of last year.
According to tourism and retail industry experts there has been an increase in the number of visitors, who have preferred to holiday in Dubai. The high occupancy rates in hotels prove that Eid Al-Adha has brought the crowd and sales back into the city.
The boost in tourism and retail industry created a series of campaigns and promotions, which in turn have increased the percentage of outdoor advertising. It is estimated that the outdoor ads have increased from 5 to 20 per cent compared to the same period last year.
Outdoor campaigns were mainly done for various brands, for automotive electronics and also included festival promotions. Public transportation vehicles like the Dubai Metro and RTA buses and major buildings were also donned with ads and promotions.
According to a report published by IPSOS research institute, outdoor advertising figures during the first quarter of this year accounted to 426.7 million dirham (USD 126.1 million), a growth of 5% compared to last year. The report had predicted an increase in the rate of outdoor advertising viewing the growth of outdoor activities and the upcoming projects in Dubai.
