Nadim Elias, President of the Chamber of Printing & Packaging Industries of the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI), announced that the export council’s plan aims at a target of $1.2 billion in printing and packaging exports by 2025, with a regular annual increase for the period leading up to 2025.
He added that the council seeks to maintain a constant rate of increase in exports by 10% during 2022, stating that the sector’s exports jumped by more than 50% to reach $900 million in 2021.
He pointed out that the boom achieved by the industry during 2021 may not be repeated in the same situation in the coming years, emphasizing on the importance of achieving a balanced annual growth in the books, publications, paper, flexible packaging, and cardboard markets.
Elias believes that the packaging sector is of special and utmost importance and has a direct impact on the goods exported in the most productive sectors, indicating that the packaging materials represent 8% to 10% of the cost of the final product, and any increase in its cost can have an impact on the competitiveness of the end product.
