Doomscrolling Printing News

Here is the news. We all love to read bad news. I always kind of knew this but the habit, turns out has some science to back it up. Actually, there is also a word for it as well: doomscrolling. Based on study conducted during pandemic feeling of depression and anxiety drive us all to consume Covid related as well as other bad news. The practice seems to be endlessly gratifying.

During 2020 majority of people around the world spent huge amount of time browsing Internet and searching particularly for bad news so much so that the Oxford English Dictionary named doomscrolling word of the year, and even added it to the dictionary.

For us who are living in printing verse doomscrolling also has become a soothing habit. We may be telling ourselves that we’re staying informed, but there’s something deeper at work when we find ourselves constantly scrolling through social media and bad news headlines. This is our defense mechanism at its best to battling depression and anxiety. Whatever it is, it’s not healthy and we have to avoid it because it is detrimental to our mental and even physical health Scrolling Internet pages to see which company went bankrupt and how many people in printing industry were laid off affect our mental and can then snowball and cause physical issues So we do it? Apparently, there’s an addictive component as well as a tendency to catastrophize more, whether it’s about COVID-19, or just the state of the world in general.

But recently we have received a string of positive news which were also highlighted in ME Printer website as well. In order to help you fight doomscrolling here is a recap of some of the good news:

It may seem silly at first, but research shows that making daily lists of what you’re grateful for, even if it’s just one thing, can help foster a sense of optimism and calm in unstable times. Also instead focusing on bad news try to concentrate on good news. I have mentioned a few in this article, Burt there are many more, especially in realm of new and disruptive technologies such as 3D printing and emerging new materials such as graphene.
