The Department of Graphic Design & Multimedia at the Faculty of Design & Creative Arts, Ahram Canadian University (ACU), conducted the first scientific conference titled ‘Designing the Future: A Tapestry of Creativity and Professionalism’.
The Cairo-based varsity’s two day conference (29 February-1 March, 2024) that included a series of events and seminars received extensive participation.
“Many topics related to the future of graphic design and multimedia as a coherent fabric of creativity and modern technologies for production were addressed,” says Haitham Mohamed Nagieb, Head of Graphic Design & Multimedia Department – Faculty of Design & Creative Arts, Ahram Canadian University (ACU).
Key topics included employing artificial intelligence in graphic design and multimedia, design power for intelligent packaging, design and manufacture of print and electronic publishing and integration between them, virtual reality and metaverse, adding value to the printing design, the latest digital printing technologies for graphic design production, the latest technologies for securing publications, design and production of animation, and job opportunities and requirements in the field of design and digital arts among others.
At the symposium titled ‘Giving Shape to Ideas’, Infinity Distribution, one of Egypt’s leading IT service providers, shed light on a variety of issues including the impact of modern technology on digital printing, the role of such technologies in solving challenges in print, printing at higher quality, and giving 3D effects to print designs while maintaining on demand printing without make ready time, personalization without resorting to design repetition, real-time quality control, and automated correction without human intervention.
Young creative artists also provided an impressive interaction through practical implementation of their creative designs using digital printing solutions.
The conference also honoured the department’s top students and winners of international, regional, and local awards in the field of graphic design.
