Saleh Al-Sheikh, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance and General Supervisor of the King Fahd Complex for Printing, issued the green light for adding Braille printing division to King Fahd Complex for printing. The new division will be responsible for printing holy Quran in Braille format and will be equipped with state-of-the-art Braille printing and production equipment.
The Secretary-General of the complex, Dr. Mohammed al-Awfi, says that upon the agreement of the minister an exhaustive and detailed study has been carried out to find the best possible solutions. This initiative will provide visually impaired Muslims with the means necessary to read and become submerged in the divine world of Quran.
Dr. Awfi also added that the Company’s team of top management who were responsible for identifying the right equipment and systems for this new project visited many manufacturing sites in Europe and conducted interviews with experts to come up with the best possible alternatives.
Awfi also pointed out that printing Quran is a complex and a sensitive task which requires special attention to the tiniest details, meanwhile using the best possible equipment and material. The Braille Printing division is another chapter in King Fahd Complex’s endeavour to print and produce Muslims’ holy book in different languages and formats.
In this context King Fahd Complex printed and distributed more than 1.8 million copies of the Koran in different formats and languages during the hajj pilgrimage.
“Quran is the most precious gift and memorabilia that Muslims can take home from the holy land,” concluded Awfi.
