New Printing House for Holy Qur´an
Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa recently launched a new printing press dedicated to production of Holy Qur´an.
Shaikh Abdullah bin Khalid Al Khalifa president of Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) says that Qur´an printing project is a great addition to the Islamic and Qur´anic reality in the Kingdom of Bahrain and Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs will provide mosques and Qur´an memorization centres with copies of the Holy Qur´an to make it accessible to everybody.
This is the first Bahrain edition of Qur´an that is being printed inside the country. This edition is hand written by Uthman Taha, famous Arab calligrapher renowned for hand-writing Mushaf al-Madinah issued by the King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Qur’an. In the newly published Qur´an the space between lines and words have been increased which makes it easier to read.
The book’s is beautifully decorated, gilded and designed based on specific instructions by Bahrain’s Council for Islamic Affairs. The whole operation from designing to delivery of the holy books took 18 months staring from 2012.
A committee made up of 14 Qur´an specialists and scholars oversaw the whole operation from design to finishing process. In the first phase 3000 copies were printed and distributed in Bahrain but in the next phase more copies will be produces and will be distributed across the region.
