Sign Industry Going Environment Friendly

With 23 years of experience in the market Masonlite knows a thing or two about signage industry in the Gulf region. The company was established in 1980 as neon product supplier covering the Gulf area.  Within the first year, Masonlite noticed the demand of the market for different sign materials and accordingly Masonlite added many different products to their range.

At the moment Masonlite is offering more than 6000 different sign supplies and equipment. The company is also supplier of solvent and eco solvent printers from China. However Sunil Purushothman Sales Director of Masonlite says that due to the environmental concerns solvent technology is slowly but surely dying out.  “Abu Dhabi already banned the use of solvent in the production of signs and billboards. But solvent is still widely used in Dubai and other countries in the region. However the trend is definitely changing. There is more demand for environmentally friendly products.”

“The traditional signage such as channelume and manual letter making signs are finding a foothold in the signage industry once again. PVC is also retiring and there is a growing demand for fabric. That’s why major large format printer manufacturers are launching direct to fabric printers,” comments Sunil.  He adds, “Fluorescent tube lights are also disappearing. Meanwhile LED signage, LCD screens and interactive media players are becoming widely accepted. Having said that in Dubai LED signs for outdoor usage is still banned because they are considered a source of distraction, which can cause accidents.”
