WAM’s Head Hails Cooperation with Malaysian Media

Mohammed Jalal Al Rayssi, Director-General of the Emirates News Agency (WAM) has hailed the existing cooperation between the UAE’s official news agency and various Malaysia-based media institutions including print and broadcast medias, digital platforms, printing and publishing companies, artistic productions, and e-marketing firms. He stressed that the coming period will witness better liaison between the two sides to achieve the common interest.

WAM’s media delegation headed by Al Rayssi and which also included Abdullah Abdul Karim, WAM’s Director of Media Coverage, visited several Malaysian media companies from 22 to 24 August, 2022, on an official invitation by the Malaysian side. The team from WAM met with officials from the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), Astro AWANI, Media Prima Berhad, New Straits Times, Sin Chew Daily, and TV AlHijrah.

During the interface, Al Rayssi highlighted WAM’s role in meeting the needs of the Malaysian community residing in the UAE and around the world by presenting news and other diversified media and digital content in Malay language.

He also invited the Malaysian officials to participate in the first edition of the Global Media Congress organized by the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) in partnership with WAM from 15 to 17, November, 2022, in Abu Dhabi. The three-day exhibition will be a hive of activity with innovation talks, panel debates, workshops, product launches, and live pitches, with industry stakeholders reviewing the best practices and discussing key topics and issues such as communication and digital technology, the impact of artificial intelligence on media, and the integration of advanced technologies and innovation in the media sector. The conference will also be a pioneering platform for closing strategic agreements and commercial deals between local, regional, and international media establishments.

The Malaysian contingent stressed the importance of the Global Media Congress as the first post-COVID in-person media event which will see huge international participation and a diversity of content and issues that will be discussed.
