Ministry-approved 1.5M English Textbooks Printed in Algeria

Talal Emara, director of publication at Algeria’s National Office for School Publications, confirmed that the new English language textbook was written and prepared according to the curricula specified by the Ministry of National Education and in agreement with the pedagogical conditions stipulated by the accreditation committee of the Technological Institute for Research in Education. The ministry-approved 64-page textbook is priced at 180 Algerian dinars.

Emara explained the three stages of textbook production. The textbooks, supervised by a technical team from the Industries and Print Arts unit of the National Office for School Publications, was computer-designed, and given to a field of graduating artists from the Higher School of Fine Arts who prepared the necessary graphics accompanying the texts.

The Department of Infographics in the Industries and Print Arts unit was in charge of the folding process before printing. Hussein Matin, technical director at the National Office for School Publications, confirmed that 100,000 textbooks in English have been printed in the third year of primary school.

Yassin Mira, the director in charge of media and broadcasting at the National Office for School Publications revealed that 1.5 million copies of the English language textbook had been printed so far and the first shipments were made to the provinces of Adrar, Béchar, Naâma, and Tindouf.

Mira confirmed that of the 34 points of sale at the national level for textbooks, in addition to over 1,400 approved libraries, over 80,000 textbooks were sold through the online medium, so far.

It is noteworthy to mention that the National Office for School Publications has printed 70 million textbooks for the three educational phases.
