USD 50 Million Joint Investment By Kenya and Egypt

Chemex Kenya 2013 exhibition held during November in Nairobi proved to be an ideal platform for Kenya and Egypt to announce the launch of joint printing and packaging projects. Based on the agreement reached between two countries a 50 million dollar fund will be created to finance large number of joint projects in field of printing, packaging and publishing. Also during the exhibition the establishment of African Union for Printing, Packaging and Publishing was announced. 8 African countries including Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Sudan, Chad and Kenya have already joined the new borne union.

Based on the agreement new PVC and cardboard production plants will be built in Nairobi.

Khaled Abdo chairman of Egyptian Chamber of Printing and Packaging Industries said that Kenyan Chamber of Commerce and Industry will give priority to the Egyptian companies for production of text books. 

According to Abdo, Egyptians and Kenyan delegations will meet in Cairo during coming days to hammer out the details of the agreement and sign the contract.

The agreement will also include a bi annual printing and packaging exhibition to be held in alternate years in Union members’ countries.
