Saudi Arabia Partners China to Enhance Literary Exchange

Saudi Arabia’s Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission signed an executive programme with China’s National Press and Publication Administration (NPPA), for cooperation in publishing, literature, and translations, including translation of classic literature from Arabic to Chinese and vice versa.

Hamed bin Mohammed Fayez, Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Minister of Culture and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission, signed the agreement with Zhang Jianchun, Deputy Head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, at the sidelines of the ongoing Riyadh International Book Fair, which concludes on 7 October, 2023.

Through this partnership, both parties aim to strengthen cultural ties, enhance content exchange, and reinforce literary collaboration to serve the sector. The programme also reflects the keenness of the Saudi Culture Ministry to promote international cultural exchange as one of the strategic goals of Saudi Vision 2030, and to build upon previous Saudi-Chinese collaborations.
