Prince Saud Bin Talal Champions 3D Printing

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing for Customer Experience and Customer Services, and the General Supervisor of the Department of Partnerships and International Cooperation, His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr, held a virtual meeting with a number of specialists in the field of 3D printing from American companies, in the presence of Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Batti, CEO of the National Housing Company.

Efforts of the housing system were reviewed to provide adequate housing for Saudi families in light of the continuous support of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and His Highness the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al-Saud, to achieve the objectives of the housing programme. One of the programmes of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 is to raise the proportion of housing ownership to 70% by 2030.

Prince Saud bin Talal noted the Ministry’s efforts to regulate the housing sector and enhance the sector’s balance by providing an integrated housing environment that achieves quality of life standards in partnership with the private sector of qualified contractors and developers, which resulted in the growth of the ownership rate from 47% to 60% in 2020.

The meeting dealt with the most prominent achievements of the Modern Construction Program and the facilities and solutions it provides to support the use of 3D printing with the aim of raising the quality of construction and accelerating the pace of unit implementation in the residential real estate sector, promoting investment in the sector to increase the residential real estate supply, increasing local content in residential projects, and developing the sector’s participation in the national gross domestic product (GDP).

The meeting witnessed a discussion of opportunities for joint cooperation with several American companies in building and construction in the municipal and residential sectors in light of the growing demand and ambitious development plans in Saudi cities.
