Positive Outlook for Digital Display Tech in the Region

According to International Expo Consults, digital signage and display technology are the future and the segment will grow in the UAE. At the moment, the global digital signage market is estimated to value at USD 20.8 billion and is expected to grow to USD 29.6 billion by 2024 at a CAGR of 7.3%. SGI Dubai 2020, the leading industry event for the printing and signage industry will play a significant role in the growth of the market in the Middle East.

Sharif Rahman, CEO, International Expo Consults, said, “Over the past 2 decades we have witnessed the evolution of the signage industry and witnessed the rise of the digital signage from a concept stage to what it is now. There are multiple factors driving the market including the popularity of commercial display over the consumer displays. The need for eco-friendly alternate to signage as well as development of cost-effective technology play a major role in the growth of the segment. The rising demand of OLED displays, 4K and 8K displays and infrastructure development have given growth to the market in recent time”.

Despite having so many advantages over traditional signage, digital signage industry hasn’t really taken of as it was expected. A lack of awareness about the return-on-investment has inhibited some advertisers to shift over, then there is the high initial investment that scares away new customers. There is also a distinct lack of standardization in terms of technology, format and software which has led to restraining the growth of the global market.

“The digital signage market is growing in the Middle East and is being driven primarily by the retail sector. This industry will gain a significant market share by 2020 due to its versatile nature and ease of use. The other verticals which enjoy the benefits of the technology include healthcare, F&B, tourism among others. In terms of technology the region has adopted the latest including virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality and artificial intelligence. The industry will benefit from shows like SGI Dubai which will give a platform for the industry to promote itself in the Middle East region,” added Sharif Rahman

Signage and Graphic Imaging Dubai, the region’s largest and premier exhibition for the signage and large format printing industry announces the inclusion of new categories. With the upcoming 23rd edition of the show International Expo Consults, the organisers of the show would like to unveil a new format of the show, which is relevant and caters to the latest trends in the marketplace. SGI Dubai 2020 is scheduled to take place from January 12th to 14th in Halls 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

SGI Dubai 2020 will also include a creative competition – SGI Dubai ‘Wall of Fame’, a car wrapping competition – ‘Masters of Wrap’, seminars and workshops conducted by industry experts under the banner of ‘Knowledge Series 2020’. Apart from the new categories, the show will be focused on several aspects of the printing and graphics industry including signage, digital signage, textile printing, screen printing, LED among others. During the previous edition SGI Dubai welcomed over 330 global exhibitors from across 30+ countries and registered thousands of trade visitors from around the world.
