Omani Luban Foundation Publishes a Raft of New Books
The Luban Publishing Foundation (Luban) in Oman has launched itself into publishing scene with 10 new books. The books were unveiled on October 10, 2020 during a ceremony held in Foundation’s headquarter in Ghala.
The Foundation kick started its activities in October in order to disseminate knowledge. The founder of the foundation is Muhammad bin Saif Al-Rahbi, renowned Omani writer.
“Our book production capacity depends on the number of authors who are willing to work with Luban. But we are planning to launch 60 to 70 books annually, and it is possible to increase the number in the future.” Comments Al Rahbi and adds:” We are not planning to offer periodicals but we did launch an electronic newspaper (Luban news) recently.”
The books published include, a poetry collection titled “Nawras” by Dr. Saif al-Ramadan, “Al-Sirah” (Telling) by Dr. Saeed bin Muhammad Al-Siyabi and “Political Disconnect” by Badr Al-Kiyumi share a new approach to an historical event experienced by the Omani people, hence the Portuguese occupation of Oman as documented by Al-Siyabi, or in the present, by the hero of the character of Al-Kiyumi. While Fawzia Al-Fahdia’s third novel titled “The Other Side of the Story” deals with scenes from yesterday’s stories and her relationship with man, which turns her into a myth. Among the new “Luban” publications “Shining light on the Omani Social, Scientific and Intellectual Contribution” by Saud Al-Harithi, documents important aspects of social, cultural and intellectual contribution of Oman, and Muhammad bin Saif Al-Rahbi narrates his involvement with reading and writing in his book “Shahd Al-Kalima “(Bridge to the Letter)”. Two new books by Bushra Salman “On the Shore of Shuq” and “Lavender of the Letter” by Bahja al-Maasabi are also part of the collection introduced by Luban. Last but not least “Rebuilding Education” by Dr. Khaled Al-Jardani deals with scientific methodology within education sector.
