Obeikan to Establish 5 Firms Worth USD 271 Million
Recently the Board of Directors of SIG Combibloc Obeikan visited the Juhayna food industries company in Egypt. The CEO of SIG Combibloc, Abdallah Obeikan and his accompanying delegation met Eng. Safwan Thabet, Chairman of Juhyna group.
The visit was aimed to better understand the recent developments happening in the economic arena of Egypt. It also enabled the company to better understand customers’ needs in addition to the priorities of the local economy and the role of the company as a strategic partner.
Abdallah Obeikan, CEO of SIG Combibloc Obeikan said that his company is negotiating with the Egyptian government for establishing five factories for packaging at an investment of 271.5 million US dollars. “We talked with Hatem Saleh, Minister of Commerce and Industry in Egypt, who showed us a number of land options to start the companies. We will be selecting areas that stands close to our customers in the region.”
Obeikan added, “We decided to pump in nearly a quarter billion dollars in Egypt, despite unfavourable conditions in the country. Our sales in Egypt, totalling last year’s figures amounts to US$ 125 million. This represents 12% of the company’s total sales worldwide.”
“Juhayna is one of our most valuable customers in North Africa, not only in terms of business volume but also for its leading local and regional position. Juhayna is one of the biggest Aseptic juice makers in Egypt with 6 filling lines from SIG Combibloc.” He added that the visit was important because it helped them to understand customers’ demands and requirements and to present the company’s recent innovations in packaging solutions.
Obeikan also stated that Egypt is one of the most important markets in the region and the company’s growth was enhanced with huge investments injected for developing and hiring a strong team of skilled professionals and engineers.
Meanwhile, Safwan Thabet, Chairman of Juhayna Group of Companies said, “We were honoured with the visit of the Board of Directors of SIG Combibloc Obeikan. This gesture shows their deep trust in the Egyptian economy and is expected to enhance and expand the economic and trade exchange volume between Egypt and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
