The judging panel for the 2023 Global Label Awards, consisting of FINAT, TLMI, and editors from three prominent label industry publications, has unveiled the shortlisted nominations. All nominations have been presented in alphabetical order, representing the exceptional talent and accomplishments within the label industry.
In a historic first, the Rising Star Award nominees include Tommy Schouten from Geostick, as well as the joint entry of brothers Harry and Tom Baker from Baker Labels. These individuals have demonstrated ongoing, exceptional contributions to the label industry, with clear potential for future leadership and responsibility.
Introducing a new category, the Team Award, nominations have been received for the team behind the GSE InkConnection blogsite, and the members of the Mercian Labels ‘lights out’ project, including Screen, CERM, ABG, and Esko. The winning team should have developed a new service or working method that sets a model for progress within the global label industry.
Two new Innovation Awards have been introduced, recognizing companies of different sizes. In the over 300-employee category, the nominees are Asahi Photoproducts, Dow, and Lintec. In the under 300-employee category, the nominees are Cartes, GEW, and Rotometal. These companies have showcased remarkable innovation and advancement within their respective segments.
The Sustainability Award nominees include Fedrigoni Self-Adhesives, Lintec, and UPM Raflatac. The winning company should demonstrate significant progress towards a sustainable future for the global labels industry, incorporating environmentally friendly practices into their operations.
The final category is the Converter of the Year Award, with nominees including UK-based Baker Label, Singapore-based Honsen Pte Ltd, and Italy-based Pilot Italia. The winner of this category should demonstrate a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment, implementing development programs for employees, contributing to community initiatives, driving sustainability efforts, and introducing innovative products or programs for end users.
The esteemed judging panel for the Label Awards consists of Philippe Voet, president of FINAT; Tim McDonough, TLMI chairman; Chelsea McDougall, editor of Labels & Labeling; Greg Hrinya, editor of Label & Narrow Web; and Jean Poncet, editor of Etiq & Pack.
The winners of each category will be announced during a gala dinner on the opening night of Labelexpo Europe 2023. Additionally, the recipient of the Label Industry Global Achievement Award, Malcolm Rae, has already been announced and will be presented at the event.
