Tunisia: IFT Launches the First online Audiobook and Podcast Festival

The Audiobook and Podcast Festival is organized online by the French Institute of Tunisia (IFT) in partnership with the association “La Plume de Paon” and the Alliance française de Bizerte. The IFT announced the broadcast throughout the week, each evening at 8:00 p.m., of a selection of audiobooks.

This festival highlights the practical and modern format of “mobile” reading; read anywhere and anytime. Readers aloud are called upon to choose an excerpt, read it, record it, in less than two minutes, and publish it with the hashtag #FestivalDuLivreAudio. The best recordings will be posted on the IFT Instagram account.

The audience award for the French-speaking audio book

The public will be able to vote for the Audience Prize for the French-speaking audio book as well as for their favorite audio books by participating in the Audience Prize until May 31, 2021. They are invited to discover the selection of audio books “La Plume de Paon” and to choose the winner, in each of the 2 categories: adult and youth from Culturethèque, digital library of the network of media libraries of the IFT and the Alliances Françaises.

Each year, the Audiobook Grand Prix rewards audio books recorded in French. Since 2013, the jury has awarded a “Golden Plume” Grand Prize and one prize per category.

The La Plume de Paon jury is made up of 10 professionals, all concerned by the future of the book in all its forms.

Two online masterclasses will take the public behind the scenes of the artistic performance of a narration for an audio book and the backstage of its recording, of the creation of a sound environment. The program also includes a webinar on the educational uses of the audiobook in the classroom.

Face-to-face programming at the Tunis media library will be dedicated to children. They will be invited to wear helmets to escape with sound stories that travel the world.
