Kuwaiti Ministry of Education: Libraries to GO Digital

Last week the Director of the Libraries Department at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Education, Ahmed Al-Majidi, affirmed the department’s keenness on digital transformation and keeping pace with development and technology in light of the Ministry’s efforts towards electronic transformation of all its services.

This came in a statement by Al-Majidi on the sidelines of the library management meeting with the Information Systems Department to discuss the mechanisms of digital transformation for the management of school libraries and libraries.

Says Al-Majidi, “We seek to achieve the library management’s vision of sustainable libraries with modern technologies and to complement the steps that have been taken towards electronic transformation and to achieve the goals of the school library and the Ministry’s library to provide services, activities and information online for teachers and learners in line with the Ministry’s pursuit of e-learning.”

He added that a bulletin was issued to activate the accounts of all school library staff and library management on the “Office 365” application, and the automated horizon system was updated to be an interface that provides various services within an electronic cloud that enables the library to meet the increasing needs of beneficiaries of electronic services, in addition to a training program for workers on these systems.

For her part, Dr. Maha Al-Qallaf, Chief Specialist Engineer from the Information Systems Department, discussed how to implement a school electronic library so that every student can search, view, and borrow through the school library.

The main objective is to assist the educational system to encourage and direct students, urging them to pursue scientific research.
