The Export Council for Printing, Packaging, Paper, Literary and Artistic Works (ECPP) in Egypt has announced that the sector’s exports during the first two months of 2024 increased by 12% to record $156 million as compared to $139 million in the same period in 2023.
The packaging sector succeeded in achieving an increase of 15% to record $92 million in the months of January and February as compared to $80 million in the year earlier period, while paper recorded a 5% increase in exports to $24.5 million compared to $23.2 million for the same period last year. The book printing sector achieved a whopping 65% increase in the first two months of 2024 to $6.8 million as compared to $4.13 million in the year earlier period.
“The remarkable increase in exports can be attributed to the opening of new markets resulting from several door-knocking missions, foreign exhibitions, and other related activities aimed at increasing exports to some traditional markets,” explains Sara Ibrahim, Executive Director of the Export Council. Ibrahim stated that exports to Algeria increased by 62% from last year and Jordan by an impressive 90% as compared to the year earlier period.
The Export Council also revealed that the largest importer of Egypt’s printing and packaging products was Libya, followed by the US, Britain, and Saudi Arabia.
