Color register system for web offset presses
The mRC-3D, developed by Q.I. Press Controls, is a fully automatic colour and cut-off register system for web off-set presses. Two digital cameras with built-in microprocessors provide real-time data processing of the measured data. Because of its 3D functionality the 3D scanner is able to accurately measure the printed micro-marks independent of the focal distance and the deformations in the paper web.
Recently, the Oman Establishment for Press, Printing, Publishing and Distribution, which publishes Oman’s largest Arabic-language daily Al Watan and the country’s leading English-language newspaper Oman Tribune, ordered 12 mRC-3D cameras for full automation of the colour register. The cameras will be equipped with automatic ink mist shield (AIMS) technology for automatic cleaning of the lenses. Everything will be installed on the Goss Magnum printing press with six towers.
“We recently had our press upgraded to six heat-set webs. We were compelled to make the investment so that we could focus on commercial products alongside our newspaper printing activities as well as retain our position as a market leader in the region,” said M.C. Venugopal, manager at the Oman Establishment. “
