Egypt’s New Banknote Printing Press Kick Starts Operation

The Central Bank of Egypt has completed the construction works of the new central bank’s printing press in the New Administrative Capital. Cutting edge printing and IT equipment are now up and running and operational trials are underway.

Eng. Khaled Farouk, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of the Cash Printing House, told Akhbar Al-Youm that operators have been trained on state of the art printing machines at home and abroad to be able to successfully run the new equipment.

On the other hand the construction of the new Cash Center located in the middle of the new capital district known as “Capital Cairo“ 45 kilometers southeast of Cairo is under way.

Khaled Farouk confirmed that the new printing press of the Central Bank in the Administrative Capital includes 4 lines for producing and printing money, and the new printing machines are able print all denominations of paper and plastic currency.
