AD Ports Group Inks Deal With Alexander Global Logistics

To transform Abu Dhabi into a leading hub for distribution and development of pulp and paper products, Abu Dhabi Ports Group (AD Ports Group) has signed a strategic partnership agreement with German freight and logistics service provider Alexander Global Logistics GmbH (AGL).

As per the agreement, both signatories will work on establishing a regional transshipment centre operating from Khalifa Port, AD Port Group’s strategically-located, flagship port with world-class logistics connections between East and West to enable trade between the most dynamic regions. The deep-water port is also the first semi-automated container port in the GCC region.

Head of Ports Cluster at AD Ports Group Saif Al Mazrouei says that this agreement constitutes a milestone in the ongoing development of Khalifa Port to support UAE’s industrial efforts and also as a maiden step in transforming Abu Dhabi as a regional leader for pulp and paper products.

“The hub aims to address the changing requirements of the global supply chain for pulp and paper manufacturers and customers. With Abu Dhabi’s central location linking global trade with its multi-modal connectivity, our new venture with Alexander Global Logistics will meet the evolving needs of this fast-growing industry,” elaborates Al Mazrouei.

AGL Founder and CEO Carsten Hellmers adds, “We are very excited about this project. The unique location, expertise, and resources provided by Abu Dhabi Ports Group will soon allow a world-class terminal for the pulp and paper industry.”

The announcement of the new strategic partnership agreement with AGL is a continuation of a series of developments at Khalifa Port aimed at expanding the port’s capability to support varied industries.

AD Ports Group is an integrated portfolio of world-class ports, economic cities and free zones, and logistic supply chains.
