ADIBF forms part the strategy aiming to transform Abu Dhabi into a major centre in the publishing world. ADIBF was launched by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UAE.

In June 2020 Abu Dhabi International Book Fair joined forces with Emirates Literature Foundation to launch a series of virtual sessions.

The program featured 10 authors and artists from around the world, who discussed a wide variety of themes – from history and education to entertainment and science.
