Appointed Time Printing Installs Ghana’s First Canon V1350

In a landmark development for the West African graphics and media sector, Accra-based Appointed Time Printing has commissioned Ghana’s very first Canon imagePRESS V1350 digital colour production press. The deployment was executed through Japan Motors, Canon’s authorised regional distribution partner, marking a significant leap for the local market.
Appointed Time Printing has long been recognised as a primary hub for high-volume commercial printing, garment branding, packaging, and publishing, making it the ideal home for this milestone installation.

The decision to invest in the digital press stems from Appointed Time Printing’s ongoing commitment to scaling production capacity and accelerating turnarounds for its diverse client base. As commercial runs grow shorter and demands for variable packaging data intensify, the company required a robust production platform capable of handling complex applications seamlessly. According to Victor Matibag, Operations Manager at Appointed Time Printing, the decision was firmly driven by Canon’s output quality and engineering speed, parameters essential for keeping pace with market demands.
The Canon imagePRESS V1350 introduces a highly automated, heavy-duty production dynamics. The press runs at speeds of up to 135 A4 pages per minute while effortlessly managing a massive monthly print volume peak of up to 2.4 million pages. The advanced POD-SURF (Surface Rapid Fusing) technology allows the press to handle a versatile array of media substrates, running from thin 60 gsm papers to heavy-duty 500 gsm stocks.

Tushar Vashnavi, Business Unit Director, B2B, Canon Central & North Africa, says, “The installation of the imagePRESS V1350 in Ghana marks a significant step forward for Canon and for the nation’s print industry. Across Africa, we see strong demand for reliable, high-quality production systems that enable print businesses to expand their capabilities and adapt to evolving customer expectations. Partnerships with trusted distributors such as Japan Motors and established customers like Appointed Time Printing are vital to driving the industry’s continued progress.”
The imagePRESS V1350 enables Appointed Time Printing to expand its commercial printing offerings for annual reports, brochures, books, magazines, packaging solutions, and advertising materials that require vibrant visuals. Engineered for precision and speed, it delivers consistent quality, helping the company meet rising customer expectations for volume and turnaround. By adopting this technology, Appointed Time Printing can provide reliable, high-quality output and boost productivity across sectors.
Appointed Time Printing serves a broad spectrum of clients ranging from government institutions to private enterprises. The company’s partnership with Canon has spanned several years, strengthened by its adoption of two imagePRESS C850 devices that have supported the ability to meet diverse customer requirements.

The press also eliminates manual bottlenecking through internal automation tools. Real-time colour integrity is maintained by an inline spectrophotometer sensor alongside a Multi-D.A.T. colour correction mechanism, ensuring perfectly uniform colour distribution from the first sheet to the last. This is complemented by an Active Registration System utilising vacuum-feed technology that holds tight alignment tolerances within a precise 0.5 mm for front-to-back accuracy on double-sided print runs. Equipped with high-capacity vacuum paper decks and automated inline finishing options, the system brings a level of uninterrupted, industrial-scale digital automation that was previously unavailable in the country’s print landscape.
Canon’s first imagePRESS V1350 installation in Ghana demonstrates its growing presence and commitment to advancing print technology across Africa. By equipping local providers with cutting-edge solutions, the company helps businesses strengthen capabilities, offer high-quality output, and stay competitive in a changing market.
As the trade demands smarter, faster, and more localised print fulfillment, the investment underlines a broader regional shift away from legacy setups towards agile, high-calibre digital print infrastructure.
