GDRFA Showcases Digitization in UAE Innovates 2022
The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai reviewed a package of the most important projects, proactive services and innovative models, during its participation in the UAE Innovation Month 2022, which was launched under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, as well as the Ruler of the Emirate of Dubai.
Running from 1 February, 2022, up to 28 February, 2022, the month is earmarked as the largest national event celebrating innovation and innovators across the country, bringing together federal and local government entities, private sector organizations, and academic institutions under the slogan ‘UAE Innovates 2022.’
Major General Mohamed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA Dubai, said that innovation is a sustainable wealth and a basis for the development of peoples and the progress of countries in the future. “We are pleased to participate in the national event aimed at consolidating the culture of government innovation and promoting community participation in developing future experiences and initiatives to support the UAE’s march towards the next fifty.”
Incidentally, Colonel Abdul Samad Sulaiman, Deputy Assistant Director for Leadership and Future Affairs, said that ‘innovation’ has become the common language in government work, and this is what the administration sought and was keen to employ in all its fields. “The administration’s participation in UAE Innovates 2022 came with the aim of contributing to the promotion of the country’s position as a global center for innovation and the creation of a wide-ranging culture of innovation to enhance the work environment and enable the country’s overall competitiveness at regional and global levels.”
GDRFA Dubai allowed visitors to its platform to get acquainted with the Document Management System (DMS), which is a reliable digital encyclopedia for all types of travel documents where documents are stored and managed digitally with a centralized storage, thereby making them tamper-proof, and in line with strengthening the security system in the UAE with a commitment to achieve digital transformation.
GDRFA Dubai also threw light on Amer centers, which are under the direct supervision of the government, and how to develop these centers to provide the best services to customers in terms of documentation and transaction requirements of residents, tourists, and locals in the country, with the government. Proactive smart services like automatic passport renewal were also looked into.
Major General Al Marri added, “Our participation in Expo 2020 Dubai this year is an opportunity to highlight our smart services and innovative projects in front of visitors who have flocked to the exhibition from all over the world.”
