Central Bank Launches Two New Currency Notes For The Visually Impaired
The Central Bank of the UAE is now circulating two currency notes of Dh100 and Dh50 denominations, featuring tactile marks for the blind and visually impaired on the front of the notes, reports Khaleej Times.
The banknotes will include new printed special effects such as engraved in bleed-off intaglio printing on the edge of the banknotes’ short sides, two horizontal lines centered around the middle of the right and left short sides of the note, separated by a recognisable distance.
The tactile feature on the Dh50 denomination consists of four horizontal lines next to each other in the middle of the right and left short sides of the note.
The Metallic ink surrounding the UAE emblem on the front top half of the note is replaced by multicoloured shifting element for the Dh50 note.
The overall design and other specifications of the two notes are the same as in the currency notes currently in circulation.
The two currency notes will be dispensed to banks in accordance with the Central Bank’s established procedures for cash withdrawal and deposit.
It is noteworthy that this preliminary step represents one of the Central Bank’s attempts to enable sight-impaired individuals’ access all banking services, just like other customers.
