UAE’s Central Bank Bags ‘Best New Banknote’ Award
The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has won the ‘Best New Banknote’ award for its new AED1000 polymer banknote which features unique three-dimensional designs with latest technical specifications and advanced security features. The award was announced during the Regional Banknote and ID Document of the Year Awards, on the sidelines of the High Security Printing EMEA conference in Abu Dhabi, held from 8-10 March, 2023.
The central lender has incorporated new security features and concepts used for the first time in the EMEA region, like the use of the multi-coloured KINEGRAM optical security feature, making the UAE the first country in the Middle East to issue the largest of its kind surface applied foil stripe in banknotes.
In his opening address, Saif Humaid Al Dhaheri, CBUAE’s Assistant Governor for Strategy, Financial Infrastructure, and Digital Transformation, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Oumolat Security Printing LLC, an affiliate of the central bank, says, “The UAE provides a competitive advantage and an attractive environment for global businesses and investments in various fields, particularly in technology and innovation, as the UAE is a vital business hub in the world.”
Al Dhaheri emphasized on the bank’s eagerness to enhance the country’s position in the field of advanced technologies in printing banknotes by strengthening the role of Oumolat at a regional and global level.
Delegates were also taken on a tour by Oumolat to its company headquarters in Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD), introducing them to innovative business areas and the specialized facility for printing banknotes and other security documents, equipped with ultra-modern and fully-integrated security and protection systems.
