UAE Firm Partners Tetra Pak for Plant-based Alternatives
UAE-based Nuitree Food has signed an agreement with Swedish giant Tetra Pak, the world’s leading food processing and packaging solutions company, to establish a specialized plant-based manufacturing facility in the UAE to provide a comprehensive end-to-end packaging and processing solutions delivery.
The collaboration is set to be one of the region’s premier solutions between the Emirati company, the region’s first specialized manufacturer of plant-based dairy alternatives, and Tetra Pak, and is in line with both entities’ visions on sustainability.
Located in Dubai Industrial City, the factory is scheduled to commence operation in the first quarter of 2024 with an initial capacity of 8,000 l/h, focusing on producing almond and oat milk products as well as a range of innovative plant-based beverages.
Tetra Pak’s strategic vision is to provide sustainable food packaging that ensures food safety and availability, while at the same time reducing the environmental impact on our planet.
Omro Kakah, Managing Partner of Nuitree Food says, “With the global trends in food and beverages moving towards healthy and sustainable plant-based alternatives, we are proud to be leading this shift in the beverage and dairy industry in the UAE and the region. Our partnership with a company like Tetra Pak which is vastly experienced in such projects reflects our commitment to producing high-quality plant-based dairy alternatives that transcend global competition.”
Tetra Pak Arabia’s Managing Director Niels Houggard comments, “We, at Tetra Pak, are committed to helping our customers bring their visions for the future to life. We are proud to be collaborating with a forward-thinking company like Nuitree Food to advance the plant-based industry in the UAE and the region to meet growing demands.”
As per a recent study by Tetra Pak, the plant-based food market is expected to be worth $34.5 billion by 2032, as consumption habits and patterns are changing rapidly. Coupled with a better awareness of the food production process and with consumers growing more ethical, there is a positive perception that plant-based products are nutritionally sound.
Whether it be GMO-free ingredients, local manufacturing, packaging, or transportation; sustainability, sourcing, and transparency are the key factors.
