On the occasion of 20th anniversary of Azerbaijan`s independence, The Third International Book Fair took off. The show was held between 24 and 25 of September. The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
120 local and 35 foreign representatives of printing and publishing companies participated at the event.
In his opening remarks, Azerbaijan`s Deputy Prime Minister Elchin Afandiyev acknowledged Baku`s efforts to host such an important event.
The Book Fair is expected to contribute to the promotion of book publishing industry in Azerbaijan, and local publishers will gain an opportunity to familiarize themselves with experiences of foreign participants.
The event will also create a chance to realize joint projects, AzerTAc reports.
The Fair demonstrates books and printing products of the US, Russia, Iran, Turkey, Hungary, Macedonia, Slovakia, Belarus, Latvia, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and other countries.
The two-day event featured book presentations, meetings with well-known writers, symposiums and other activities. The Book Fair ended on September 25, 2013.
