The Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Morocco signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of historical documentation and management of documents and archives.
The MOU, signed by the Director of Royal Records, Bahja Simo, and the head of Oman’s National Records and Archives Authority, Hamad bin Mohammed Al-Dhawani, aims to encourage cooperation in the field of document copying, printing and exchange of manuscripts and books, and preservation and maintenance of documents.
The memorandum also included cooperation in the field of publishing documentary, cultural, literary, and historical publications and establishing various activities, encouraging participation in organizing conferences, exhibitions and workshops in the field of document and archive management, promoting the exchange of experiences, training workers, building their own capabilities, and conducting scientific research.
The memorandum stems from the cordial relations between Oman and Morocco, and their desire to enhance and develop bilateral cooperation in the fields of documents and archives, and the National Records and Archives Authority’s endeavour to achieve an integrated system of cooperation with institutions at regional and international levels.
For his part, Al-Dhawani confirmed that the memorandum comes to strengthen the existing relations between the two countries that lay a solid foundation for cooperation in preparing scientific and intellectual publications and exchanging training and scientific and practical experiences in this field.
