Sun Chemical to acquire Flint Group’s European publication gravure ink business

Flint Group has agreed to sell its European publication gravure ink business to Sun Chemical in a deal which will include transfer of all product portfolios relating to Flint Group’s European publication gravure product range.

Flint Group’s decision to sell its European publication gravure business is in line with the organisation’s long-term strategy to increase focus on its core web offset markets, where it continues to build on its market position – as evidenced by the recent purchase of Siegwerk’s global web offset business and expansion of its global print media business.

“We are pleased to have reached this agreement with Sun Chemical – securing the long term supply for our publication gravure customers in Europe,” said Tony Lord, general manager Print Media Europe, Middle East and Africa / VP European Operations. “After completion, Flint Group will work closely with Sun Chemical to ensure that the transition is completed with minimal disruption for our customers.”

Felipe Mellado, chief marketing officer and board member at Sun Chemical, commented: “Sun Chemical remains committed to all its publication businesses. The acquisition of Flint Group’s Publication Gravure Ink Business reaffirms our commitment to this sector and will enable us to further strengthen and enhance the performance of our own publication gravure plants.”

Completion of the sale is still subject to customary closing conditions, including the approval of the competition authorities. Until such time as approval is granted, Sun Chemical and Flint Group will continue to manage their European publication gravure businesses independently without impact to customers, employees and suppliers.
