Private Label ME Exhibition to be Held

The 9th edition of PLME (Private Label Middle East exhibition) will be held from between 1 and 3 October 2012 in world trade center. The event targets buyers at the very highest level: senior decision-makers in retail, leisure, travel, import and export, and industry professionals from a wide cross-section of product and service categories.

Manufacturers and product suppliers from around the world gather in Dubai every year to use PLME-Dubai as one of their important trading opportunities. The show features major national pavilions from a number of countries such as Turkey and Germany and also plays host to scores of  suppliers from Europe, America, the Far East, Africa, the Middle East and neighboring regions.

A wide range of FMCG product categories are featured at the show, including food and beverages, health and beauty, Paper and plastic products, cleaning, pharma and hygiene, industrial consumables and many more.

The organizers of the show Channels Exhibitions in its website announces that exciting retail and leisure projects continue to be unveiled across the Gulf region and the wider Middle East, with around 400 new shopping malls expected to open in the next 10 years and Dubai is the trading hub at the heart of it all.

Across the GCC region, and beyond, independent businesses are working hard to grow, with some notable successes. The result is that the balance of power is shifting away from multinationals and demand for locally branded products is growing. For example, the GCC grocery market is recording an impressive 11% annual growth rate, having risen from US$43 billion in 2005 to $72 billion in 2010. For new regional retailers the field is wide open in important areas – such as personal care, food and other categories – that have traditionally been dominated by multinationals.
