Sulaymaniyah International Book Fair was launched on November 18 with the participation of local and International publishers. The event will be held from 18 to 27 November.
Shawqi Omar, Director of Relations and Marketing at the exhibition, said: “The exhibition has attracted a wider participation from publishing houses, institutions and various cultural and literary bodies compared to the last edition. This is very good news considering that we are still struggling with the effects of Covid-19. “Omar added: “Coordination has been made with the authorities to implement all the preventive measures in light of ongoing pandemic.”
The preventive measures include, “measuring temperatures, passing through self-sanitization gates, mandatory mask wearing, and maintaining a safe distance,” explains Omar. He also said that booking the entire 10 thousand square meter of the exhibition area “reflects the size and importance of international participation in this year’s exhibition.”
More than 350 publishing houses from Kurdistan region, Denmark, the Netherlands, US, Canada, Nigeria, Egypt, and northeastern Syria participated in the book fair.
The books on display are presented in five languages: Kurdish, Arabic, Farsi, Turkish and English.
