EPA Gives Emirati Publishers a Fillip at Amman Book Fair
The Emirates Publishers Association (EPA) is actively participating in the 22nd edition of Amman International Book Fair. The ongoing book fair (22-30 September, 2023), is hosting as many as 400 publishing houses from 22 Arab and foreign countries.
The EPA’s participation demonstrates its dedication to strengthening the UAE’s book industry and ensuring the influential presence of Emirati cultural products on the global stage. It also sheds light on the growing publishing industry in the UAE and support for local customers.
Through its novel Manassah platform, the association is celebrating the publications of 13 Emirati publishing houses at Amman. More than 200 new titles from 1,600 books in different genres are on display, reflecting the EPA’s dedication in broadening knowledge and its range of offerings designed to cater to a diverse array of reader interests. This multifaceted endeavour plays a key role in advancing the Emirati book industry and strengthening the cultural and creative sectors across the country.
The central aim of this initiative is to kindle enthusiasm for literature and foster a culture of reading that inspires them to immerse themselves in a world of books and enjoy reading them.
Through Manassah, the EPA not only promotes Emirati publishers and their works at local and international book fairs, but also facilitates interactions with international publishing companies, forging strategic partnerships, and delving into new possibilities for selling, buying, and translating copyrights.
Rashid Al Kous, Executive Director of the EPA, said that the association’s presence at the Amman book fair underscores its dedication to introducing Emirati books to Jordanian readers and promote cultural exchange between Emirati publishers and their other regional counterparts.
The Amman International Book Fair is being organized by the Union of Jordanian Publishers in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and the Greater Amman Municipality. This year’s exhibition features Qatar as the guest of honour and celebrates researcher and academic Dr. Hind Abu Al-Shaar for her pioneering literary and research works.
