Egyptian Minister of Education Dr. Tarek Shawky, signed a joint cooperation protocol to institute the Medhat Al-Suwaidi School of Applied Technology, located in the Sharqia Governorate, as the first applied technology school specialized in the field of printing.
Dr. Shawky spoke on the efforts made by the Ministry to develop technical education and raise its quality in accordance with Egypt’s Vision 2030, primarily by linking the skills of graduates to the requirements of the labour market.
Vision 2030 in the field of technical education aims to make it the first choice for students, increasing competitiveness, and improving Egypt’s position amongst global indicators for technical education and skills index, according to the Global Talent Competitiveness Index 2021, issued by the prestigious French INSEAD business school since 2013.
Dr. Muhammad Mujahid, Deputy Minister of Education for Technical Education Affairs, expressed his happiness with the inclusion of new specializations applied for the first time in applied technology schools, such as printing technology specialization, printing quality preparation and output technology, maintenance technology and support services for printing, design technology, montage and sales marketing, stressing on the need for a balance between theoretical and practical aspects that are applied, and obtaining practical training on what has been studied in the workshops, factories, and companies of industrial partners.
Dr. Amr Basileh, Head of the Central Administration for the Development of Technical Education and Director of the Operational and Management Unit for Applied Technology Schools, said that with the inclusion of Medhat Al-Suwaidi School of Applied Technology, the number of applied technology schools has increased to 28, distributed over 10 different governorates.
