Colorline Shifts To CTP Workflow
Ajman based Colorline Printing Press has opted for a new Suprasetter A 75 CTP system from Heidelberg. The machine is now up and running in company’s premises. Colorline has a range of Heidelberg presses including PM GTO 52, SORMZ and Polar Cutter 78. The investment enables the print house to become a one stop shop for commercial print production.
The company was established 14 years ago and has 18 staff. Colorline has been expanding during recent years and according to Pradeep Kumar Colorline’s GM more investment including a 4 Colour Heidelberg is in the pipeline. “Before our new investment we were using imagesetter but we knew we had to shift to CTP workflow. Now we can save valuable time for our prepress operation and offer a much higher quality.”
Colorline is a small commercial printer but it seems what it lacks in size it makes up in efficiency and fast job turnaround. Company’s high profile customers include Al Ghurair Exchange and Al Naboodah.
In this day and age where there is talk of full automation and 3D printing it’s refreshing to see that printers are still able to make money from imagesetters. According to Kumar there are still some printers in Ajman (and perhaps in Dubai as well) who are using imagesetters and still running a profitable business. Although they will eventually install CTP systems but their survival in the tough printing market proves that efficiency and hard work are still the major prerequisites for success.
