Building SinoCorrugated Into a World-Leading Event
ME Printer speaks to Alex Wang, the General Manager of Converting Project, at Reed Exhibitions Greater China, about the history behind SinoCorrugated, the milestones it has achieved over the years and the plans for the years ahead
How many years has SinoCorrugated been conducted?
While talking about the history of SinoCorrugated exhibition, we need to go back to 2001 when we held our first edition in Shanghai. So as has been seen, SinoCorrugated show has approx. 17 years of experience and it could be regarded as one of the earliest corrugated trade fairs in China and even across Asia.
What do you plan to achieve through running this event?
We have launched global roadshows in ten countries every year since 2015. After SinoCorrugated has successfully concluded their Iran Roadshow stop as one of the last stations in 2017, the Global Roadshow Tour 2018 will be grandly launched again starting from this April, bridging the gap between local manufacturers in emerging industry areas with machine and equipment manufacturers from all around the globe.
Reed Exhibitions plans to organize in total 7 global Roadshows. Thailand and Vietnam will be the first stops to initiate the Tour in July, closely followed by the Malaysian Corrugated Industry Summit in August. Apart from IndiaCorr which will be held in early September and the Poland Corrugated Industry Summit in late September, we will also pay a visit to South America within the same month.
After that the month of October will lead the tour to North Africa, where Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco will be potential stations. Approaching the year-end of 2018, we will visit Iran again, in best case with two stations with locations in Tehran and Isfahan. The 7 Roadshows are expected to welcome approximately 1700 core industry buyers and decision makers.
Linked with the Roadshows, Reed Exhibitions will also host a global business investigation in 2018, which, specifically speaking, will begin with a Tour in Germany themed Industry 4.0. After that, the Russia Leisure Tour will follow in June. In October, we will try to explore the source and the secret of intelligent manufacturing in Japan and Taiwan. Furthermore a local investment Study Tour will be conducted in Southeast Asia, where enormous business opportunities can be found in recent years
How many visitors do you plan to host at the event this year?
SinoCorrugated South 2018 will be jointly held together with SinoFoldingCarton 2018, SinoFlexoGraphy South 2018, PACKCON 2018 as well as China Label Industry Expo 2018. The 5-in-1 Mega Expo will showcase the latest products and solutions from Asia and abroad, while connecting the entire industry chain of the corrugated, folding carton and container packaging sector.
Thus, we could say all professional within printing and packaging industry are target audience. This year, more than 700 established participating brands will display over 1,400 high-end and cost-effective machineries, ancillary equipment and consumables across 6 exhibition halls totally covering 80,000-square-meter. It’s expected to receive more than 36000 domestic and oversea visitors.
What will be the key focus areas at the event this year?
Actually, many exhibitors will showcase their cutting edge machines and devices onsite of SinoCorrugated South 2018, which will also provide a perfect platform for other exhibitors to launch new technologies and revolutionary solutions. Actually, keeping audiences interested and sustainably is always one of our biggest concerns.
This year, an exciting new feature includes the launch of 3 Dream Factories highlighting the fields of ‘Digital Printing’, ‘Boutique Boxes & Tubes’ and ‘Modern Flexography’. The ‘Digital Printing Dream Works’ factory will provide a three-dimensional demonstration of the actual and complete production process of digital printing technologies in European, American and Japanese intelligent digital printing production workshops.
It’s a real-time simulation under production workshop conditions – specifically within the field of folding carton and corrugated carton production lines, the workshop will feature topics such as equipment configuration and their placements, order type, order structure, equipment speed, performance, stability, personnel allocation, printing quality and other comprehensive information inputs.
Why is SinoCorrugated important for the global print and related industries?
Since being held firstly in 2001, SinoCorrugated has been always delicated to be an international brand in order to provide a high-class one stop experience to business professionals from the corrugated industry. We have invested a lot into the global promotion of the exhibition as well as in the set-up of a global marketing network.
We have to say SinoCorrugated is not only the one-way platform for China’s sellers to sell to international buyers, but also has become a trading platform for global suppliers and buyers as one of the largest corrugated exhibition around the world. Each year the exhibition gathers world famous corrugated exhibitors and industry experts to explore the latest industry-related trends and technologies.
According to the 2017 China Corrugated Industry Report which was officially released by the China Packaging Federation, the number of medium and large-scale packaging enterprises (with an annual revenue over 20 million RMB) reached 7582 in 2016, generating a total revenue of more than 1.17 trillion RMB.
This stands for a year-on-year growth of 4.98 %, a 0.9% higher increase compared to 2015. It perfectly shows the growth momentum of the packaging market in China. In this sense, China plays very important role in promoting the development of global print and related industries.
Do you plan to run seminars and panel discussions alongside the event?
In recent years, SinoCorrugated South has also served as an annual gathering point for worldwide packaging and printing chain professionals – and with good reason. 2018’s versatile platform of learning opportunities is sure to exceed expectations with an expanded selection of 30+ high-end and industry-relevant meetings, forums, expert training sessions and interactive networking activities.
These will be represented by Asia Corrugated Industry Summit, India Day, Iranian Workshop, South East Asia Welcome Reception as well as the Trade Agent Salon helping corrugated manufacturers and professionals to increase their industry know-how and competitive edge, while expanding their networks.
How has SinoCorrugated grown from its humble beginnings way back in 2001?
Reed Exhibitions has specialized experience in holding exhibitions and developed operation mode through which the resources of the global printing and packaging industry can be fully used in SinoCorrugated, so as to form a very indispensable core advantage.
First, we have the unique database of Reed Exhibitions. As we know, the audience registration of exhibition is based on professional buyer database. Reed Exhibitions has been deeply devoted to the carton industry for 20 years and owns a big and accurate global carton industry database of more than 200,000, including over 100,000 domestic data and more than 100,000 overseas data.
Secondly, we have constant support from global partners. At present, SinoCorrugated has kept close cooperation with over 100 media and over 100 associations around the world, established the global strategic cooperative partnership with more than 500 supplier worldwide and cooperated with global 10 call centers, ISG system in 46 countries and 30 travel agencies in 13 countries throughout the year to ensure the quantity and quality of overseas exhibitors and audiences. Without them, we cannot be where we are today.
Thirdly, experience in holding exhibitions or we say, in exhibition operation, is another key factor. We have successfully held the exhibitions for 17 years. More than 50% of our team members are from the corrugated packaging industry, 35% of members have served the corrugated exhibition for at least 10 years. We are capable to adjust our operation according to the market demands as well as the requirements from different participants, so as to ensure that our exhibitors and audiences obtain the first-class service in each link.
