Abu Dhabi Ports to Enhance UAE Plastics Market
Abu Dhabi Ports announced that the number of companies working in the field of plastics industry within the city’s industrial and Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD) free zone has a total of 95 factories occupying an area of 3.45 square kilometers.
The industrial cities and free zone sector of the Abu Dhabi Ports extends over an area of 550 square kilometers of industrial and commercial areas, and includes more than 1,500 local, regional, and international companies, with a total investment of over 140 billion dirhams, with several leading companies looking to invest in the plastic sector, especially in KIZAD and ZonesCorp, the largest operator of purpose built zones in the UAE – a regional center for many of the largest international companies operating in the plastics sector.
According to reports issued by Mumbai-based Fortune Business Insights, the leading publisher of market research reports and custom services, the global market value of the plastics sector indicates a growth from $439.28 billion in 2021 to $616.82 billion by 2028, at a compound annual growth rate of 5%.
Abdullah Al Hameli, Head of the Industrial Cities and Free Zone Cluster of the Abu Dhabi Ports, pointed to the great recovery and development witnessed by the plastics sector in the UAE, stressing that the Abu Dhabi Ports is working with its strategic partners to accelerate investment in this sector at the regional level and employ innovation to develop it.

Throwing more light on the subject, Mohamed Al Khadar Al Ahmed, CEO at ZonesCorp, said, “The plastics complex within the industrial cities and free zone cluster has been designed in a way that ensures that the needs of this industry are met at the global level, and since its establishment in 2019, has witnessed many successive developments that have contributed to the consolidation of its position as a catalyst, that has been key to the sector’s growth in the UAE.”
