Tetra Pak showcases Sustainability at Expo 2020 Dubai
In partnership with the Sweden Pavilion at the ongoing Expo 2020 in Dubai, world leaders Tetra Pak has called upon everyone to contribute towards a better future by making sustainable choices.
The Swedish-Swiss multinational food packaging and processing company will exhibit its water cartons designed in line with the pavilion’s theme of ‘Co-creation for innovation’, besides putting up furniture in the conference area made of recycled paper-based packages.
Tetra Pak has focused on simple sustainable solutions throughout the ongoing mega event such as increasing recycling and reusing to reduce waste, opting for carton packages, and less usage of water, amongst others. The company is also working closely with their network of customers and suppliers, inviting them to rethink food packaging by starting with the basics to protect food, people, and the planet.
With carbon footprint and other global emissions already at significantly high levels, the urgency in opting for responsibly-sourced, plant-based renewable materials and sustainable solutions has achieved paramount importance.
The packaging industry today is faced with many challenges, including increasing greenhouse gas emissions, high rates of plastic pollution, expanding landfills, depletion of finite resources, and limited recyclability. Though recycling can curb the environmental impact of packaging to a certain extent, it cannot eliminate it altogether. Given the situation, Tetra Pak believes that combined with recycling, a move towards responsibly sourced, renewable raw materials can help achieve the low-carbon circular economy and a greener future as a panacea for our healing planet.
