Strata Partners German Cos. for Energy-efficient A/c System
With the demand for air conditioning set to soar in the years ahead, a partnership agreement was announced between Strata Manufacturing, the wholly-owned aerospace unit of Emirati investment company Mubadala Investment Company, and two German companies, AI-based engineering platform Hyperganic Group and world-leading industrial 3D printing solutions provider EOS Group.
The agreement was signed by the CEO of Strata Ismail Ali Abdulla; Hyperganic’s CEO Lin Kayser; and founder, CEO, and chairman of EOS, and a trendsetter in 3D printing Dr. Hans J. Langer in an official ceremony attended by the UAE’s Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology HE Dr Sultan Al Jaber.
With the International Energy Agency (IEA) projecting a tripling of energy demand for air conditioners by 2050, the strategic alliance between the three companies aims to resolve this environmental challenge through advanced engineering and digital manufacturing. The tie-up will also help Strata be part of developing the world’s most energy-efficient air-conditioning system in the UAE, a testament to the remarkable industrial growth with cutting-edge technology that the Emirates is developing at home.
The partners will combine Hyperganic’s algorithmic engineering technology with EOS’ metal 3D printing technology, and Strata’s digital production lines to develop a residential air-conditioning unit that is ten times more efficient than conventional air-conditioning systems, while remaining cost competitive. The three companies have also made plans to show project updates at COP28, the UN climate change summit, to be held in the UAE in 2023.
In a related development, Munich-based Hyperganic has announced the opening of its engineering office in Dubai at the beginning of July, expecting to house 20 engineers by the end of 2022 who will work closely with Strata and EOS on the air conditioning project.
Throwing more light on the partnership, Strata’s CEO Abdulla says, “Through this project we will work with Hyperganic and EOS on building the advanced technological manufacturing processes necessary for the product’s success. This partnership is a real leap for Strata, which is based on investing in 4IR technologies and building new avenues for the industry that aligns with our strategy for advanced industries and help realize the national vision for developing the industrial sector managing partnerships based on innovative solutions.”
“The role of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology in building an attractive environment for investment, especially with the ‘Make it in the Emirates’ campaign, must be commended here,” adds Abdulla.
Speaking at the signing ceremony Minister Dr. Al Jaber says, “In line with the directives to support and develop the national industrial sector, the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology is keen to create economically feasible opportunities that contribute to supporting the local product and enabling the industrial sector in the country to develop competitive and marketable products with international standards.”
“This partnership confirms the ability of the industrial sector in the UAE to develop and launch commercially viable local products that meet the needs of local and global markets, thanks to the capabilities, incentives, and advantages that enable these products to enter and compete in global markets, thus contributing to promoting the growth of the industrial sector in the country. We are pleased to conclude this partnership as an ideal example of innovation driving sustainable development and creating a positive economic impact,” he adds.
