Morocco’s SOMADI Invests in Cutting-edge Komori Presses

In a rapidly-evolving printing industry, staying ahead requires investing in future-proof solutions and building strategic partnerships. Société Marocaine d’Impression (SOMADI), a family-run printing business in Morocco, exemplifies this philosophy, through their investment in cutting-edge printing equipment.

SOMADI has taken printing to the next level by investing in Komori’s Lithrone series: the GL540 with H-UV coating and GL640 sheetfed printing presses. The machines enable high-quality two-sided printing in one pass and straight multicolour printing in one machine. The Lithrone G40 series offer top printing speeds of 16,500 sheets per hour and delivers very stable high-speed operation with a wide range of sheet thicknesses, ranging from ultrathin to thick sheets. The Asynchronous Automatic Plate Changer (A-APC) significantly improves working efficiency and greatly reduces preparation time.

Fusion of the KHS-AI integrated control system and the H-UV system shortens makeready time, cuts paper waste, and reduces printing time to the maximum, while maintaining high print quality and high productivity. The environmentally-responsible presses saves energy and resources, reduces harmful chemical substances released during printing, and minimises noise.

“Though the new machines are capable of high speeds, their true value lies in their ability to adapt to our unique requirements,” says SOMADI General Manager Ludovic Chartouni. “Our typical print runs are between 500 and 15,000 copies, so we don’t need maximum speeds. What matters is the consistent quality, faster setups, and lasting performance, which ensure that our operations remain efficient and cost-effective.”

SOMADI’s relationship with Komori has further demonstrated how collaboration drives long-term success. “We’re very satisfied, not just with the machines but with the relationship we’ve built. Komori has provided cost-effective solutions tailored to our needs, with a focus on delivering enduring value and addressing our future challenges. It’s not just about the technology; it’s about working with people who understand your vision and help you achieve the ROI and long-term value you’re striving for,” adds Chartouni.
