King Saud Medical City to Jointly Develop 3D Artificial Limbs

King Saud Medical City (KSMC) has concluded a joint cooperation agreement with Prince Sultan University (PSU) in the field of developing scientific research and forming a working team to conduct experiments to develop and improve the manufacture of prosthetic limbs using 3D technology.

KSMC explained that the agreement aims to exchange scientific and clinical experiences and provide clinics, consultations, and prosthetic limbs to those in need using 3D printing, which saves a lot of time and effort.

The agreement indicated the participation of both parties in training programmes, lectures, and self-skill development courses, with the aim of developing services and competencies of employees of the two sides.

The agreement also noted the cooperation of the two parties in the field of studies and research, with the aim of establishing an information base between them, a mechanism for communicating with them and contributing to social guidance, and guidance and planning for preventive programmes.

KSMC’s Co-Executive Director of Health Services, Dr. Faisal Al-Mazrou, confirmed that PSU is one of the reputable universities, and that this partnership will serve a large segment of patients in need of prosthetics.

On his part, Dr. Saad Al-Ruwaita, acting President of PSU, considered this as among the agreements and partnerships that the university is keen to conclude with community institutions, especially medical and health institutions. This would enhance the university’s contribution, through its research centers, towards integration with community institutions.
