Indian Start-up finds Market in Dubai with EzySpit

The Indian government’s Aathmanirbharbharat campaign to promote self reliance has given a fillip to regional start-ups to promote their innovative solutions in this rapidly changing scenario.

Design It Ezy, a Nagpur-based start-up company, is making headlines as the brainchild of three young engineers, siblings Ritu and Prateek Malhotra, and their close friend and neighbour Pratik Harde. All the three are involved in developing ideas and creating products to make a significant difference in our daily life.

Holding patents for over 20-odd products, the trio has launched EzySpit, the world’s first reusable, easy to carry mobile spittoon that solidifies the droplets of spitting in seconds, equipped with macro molecular pulp that coagulates spit and locks the microbes present in the saliva.

The eco-friendly spittoon producer aims at curbing diseases primarily caused by spitting, while at the same time initiating its maiden “Spit and Grow” campaign christened as #CleanBhiKaregaGreenBhiKarega. The aim is to drive awareness about the ills of spitting in the open.

EzySpit has devised a novel technique and defines a place to spit – Spit Here – for addressing one of humankind’s most pressing issues of spitting pollution. EzySpit’s innovation is designed with the idea of “Throw and Grow”; by developing plants from human spit and aiming to plant trees all over the world by helping one spit responsibly to create a beautiful and healthy green plant. EzySpit is available in three sizes – as pouch, spitting glass, and bin – for different requirements.

“These products are designed for patients suffering from contagious diseases such as tuberculosis (TB), where their spit can easily contaminate the environment and vomit bags are for those who experience the hardships during travel,” explains Harde. “The body fluids turn germ free once dropped into the bag or glass,” adds Harde.

Especially in the wave of the COVID-19 pandemic and immense stress given to hygiene, the products have become an instant hit, with the company’s turnover crossing Rs 3 crore in the very first year of production. EzySpit has already found markets in Australia, Dubai, and Singapore. “EzySpit is also garnering popularity in a country like Russia, where spitting is a problem. Hospitals in the US have also shown interest in our products,” says Prateek Malhotra.

“With people getting tech-savvy, the government giving the right push to start-ups, and stress on Swacch Bharat, NGOs and corporates are clamoring to tie up with EzySpit for CSR activities,” says Ritu Malhotra.

The start-up and its founders have been awarded several prestigious recognitions, both nationally and internationally.
